Ioannes

ABOUT THE BRAND

Founded 2019 in Paris, ioannes draws inspiration from the past while celebrating artistry, individuality, and sexuality through process and a meticulous attention to detail. Led by an intention to strike a unique balance between understated elegance and moments of bold expression, ioannes sought to create a source of joy - not only for the designer but the women who express themselves through the pieces.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Titled “apokalypsis” and leaning into the original meaning of the word – an unveiling –, ioannes’ latest collection is not meant as an ending, but as a moment of revelation, and marks a radical shift for Johannes Boehl Cronau. After launching his brand almost a decade ago, the designer has decided to move away from the seasonal calendar and build his fashion label into a lifestyle project including furniture and objects. For his last traditional clothing collection, he took a deep dive into his own archive to distil the essence of the brand today. The garments are also closely linked to memories, from his mother’s ‘90s black Jil Sander office suits and references to ‘70s Marthe Keller to Madonna’s tracksuits. Floral motifs are created via pyrography – burned into wood and transferred to the garment for a raw, scorched texture –, clashing with hand-dyed cashmere and sharp tailoring. Slinky silhouettes meet sharp suiting, moving from sensuality to exaggerated proportions. Elsewhere, a tiny credit-card holder worn as a shoulder bag with floor-length fringe leans into playful absurdity.
