About the Collection
This season, Serhat Işık and Benjamin Huseby, the duo behind GmbH, sought to find answers to the purpose of fashion and creativity in serious and uncertain times. They wondered: How can creativity survive under such conditions? How can they find purpose in their work as fashion designers? For their latest collection, they looked to their past work as a starting point. Listening to music from previous shows, they revisited some of their favourite GmbH looks, collections, and moments. The idea was not to be self-referential or evoke a feeling of nostalgia, but to find comfort in past ideas—from a time when the world might have seemed less threatening—and as an attempt to find one’s centre in destabilising times. They focused on their own codes, silhouettes, and heritage. Named after a poem by Norwegian modernist poet Gunvor Hofmo, “From Another Reality,” the collection explores themes of grief and existential despair, but also grace, dignity, and elegance. The duo reflected on their own fathers in suits—the idea of dressing up or looking one’s best. GmbH presented sharp, classic tailoring combined with unexpected elements such as faux fur coats or delicate, sheer fabrics. Bomber jackets, zip sweaters, and statement knitwear complemented the collection.

ABOUT THE BRAND
GmbH was founded in Berlin by Serhat Isik and Benjamin A. Huseby in 2016, as a project using the craft of garment making for storytelling, and to respond to current events in the world. GmbH quickly gained cult status for their strong silhouettes, mixing elements of German workwear with high-fashion references, making garments that both accentuate and protect the body, but always interwoven with their heritage as children of immigrants.

How does your cultural background or heritage play a role in your designs?
From migration, ecology or club culture, GmbH addresses global issues through the designers' own lived experiences as children of immigrants in Europe. We often talk about GmbH as a project for decolonising our own minds.
