Orange Culture

ABOUT THE BRAND
Orange Culture is a Lagos-born fashion brand redefining contemporary African luxury. Founded by Adebayo Okelawal, the label blends heritage fabrics, gender-fluid silhouettes, and bold storytelling to create collections that challenge norms and celebrate identity. Known for its sculptural tailoring, vibrant color palettes, and socially conscious narratives, Orange Culture merges art, performance, and fashion to inspire dialogue on culture, history, and self-expression. With a global perspective rooted in African creativity, the brand positions itself at the intersection of craftsmanship, activism, and modern luxury.

What non-fashion related sources or experiences have influenced your current collection?
My current collection, Backyards of Memory, draws inspiration from experiences and observations beyond fashion. Growing up in Nigeria, the backyard was a central space in daily life, where children played, neighbors gathered, and clothes hung in the sun to dry. These spaces carry a sense of intimacy, community, and resilience, which I translate into the collection’s narrative and movement. I’m also inspired by memory and storytelling: how ordinary objects and routines the textures of fabrics, the rhythm of daily life, the light of the sun at different times of day shape personal and collective histories.
