It was one of the most awaited openings of 2022. Nowadays it is a must visit – for locals and travelers from around the globe: Château Royal. Located in the heart of the city and crafted by Berliners deeply rooted in the city's soul, Château Royal transcends the ordinary, offering a unique blend of design, art, hospitality and gastronomy that truly reflects Berlin's eclectic spirit.

Behind Château Royal stands Stephan Landwehr, co-founder of restaurant legend Grill Royal. The concept of hospitality, nurtured through various successful restaurants like Petit Grill, Kin Dee, and Bar Freundschaft, naturally evolved into the idea of a distinctive hotel — a space where locals and global guests could converge. It is a sensory experience as the hotel not only provides luxurious accommodation but also serves as a vibrant cultural space, where art and hospitality seamlessly converge.

The Château Royal spans five floors, housing 93 rooms, including 26 suites and an apartment. Set against the backdrop of two historic buildings from 1850 and 1910, coupled with a modern construction and roof extension by David Chipperfield Architects, the hotel is a harmonious blend of old and new.

Interior architect Irina Kromayer brings the hotel's interiors to life. Drawing inspiration from Berlin's early 20th-century aesthetic, the rooms feature vibrant marble, herringbone parquet, oak, nickel, and contemporary twists on Berlin bohemia. Custom-made oak furnishings, Schinkel and Bauhaus-inspired bathrooms, and carefully curated vintage pieces provide each room with a unique charm.

Art is woven into the very fabric of Château Royal. The hotel boasts an extensive collection curated by Kirsten Landwehr in collaboration with Krist Gruijthuisen from KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Over 100 works from diverse artists are placed throughout the hotel, including in guest rooms, the restaurant, bar, corridors, and even on the roof. The artworks, ranging from large-scale paintings to sculptures and light installations, all share a common thread—strong ties to both Berlin and the Château Royal ethos.

From neon artworks by Karl Holmqvist in the kitchen to collaborations with renowned artists like Cosima von Bonin and Klara Lidén.

Château Royal, with its rich tapestry of history, art, and design, stands as a testament to Berlin's dynamic and ever-evolving cultural landscape. It beckons travelers to immerse themselves in a truly authentic Berlin experience — one that is as diverse and captivating as the city itself.
