From February 5th to 8th, 2024, Berlin Fashion Week will once again present itself as a special stage for talent and creative freedom through a diverse program.

Through the theme "The responsible movement of freedom, inclusion and creativity" Berlin Fashion Week’s February program strengthens its position as a platform for diversity and craftmanship. Instead of copying the style of other Fashion Weeks, the organizers consolidate the unique character of the event and its city. The show calendar represents the bold narrative of Berlin fashion influenced by distinctive subcultures, music, art, and cultural variety.

Berlin Contemporary – Craftmanship and originality

At the heart of the Fashion Week program is the competition „Berlin contemporary “, in which, for the third time 18 designers have been selected who are convincing in terms of style, craftmanship and concept, having international commercial potential. The winners include well-known, established labels as well as newcomer brands debuting at Berlin Fashion Week. The 14 German winners are Avenir, Dennis Chuene, Kitschy Couture, Lou de Bètoly, Lueder, Malaikaraiss, Marke, Namilia, Olivia Ballard, Rianna + Nina, Richert Beil, SF1OG, Sia Arnika and William Fan. The selection of the Ukrainian labels Bobkova, DZHUS, Glück Clothes and PLNGNS continues to show solidarity with Ukraine.

Michael Biel, State secretary for Economy, Energy, and Businesses:

“The up-and-coming talents presenting at Berlin Fashion Week embody an impressive level of innovation in combination with outstanding craftmanship. The fashion industry is an important factor for Berlin ‘s creative spirit and economical force. Here, the designers find a dynamic and internationally recognized creative location. We support their artistic development and offer a stage for entrepreneurial flourishment and establishment. These young visionaries help to consolidate Berlin as a powerhouse of talent standing especially for sustainable fashion. Sustainability is our trademark. Here in Berlin a brave and fashionable future with global appeal is created.“

The BFW repertoire – progressive, niche, original

In addition to the winners of the competition, many other names and brands shape the Berlin Fashion week, for example Berlin labels Haderlump and Impari. Global player Marc Cain is returning to the capital after its anniversary show. Again, established designers Rebekka Ruétz, Kilian Kerner, Marcel Ostertag and Danny Reinke present their collections in a joint location.

Established formats and events such as Der Berliner Salon in Kronprinzenpalais or a pop-up format of the 202030 Summit with topics regarding sustainability in fashion ensure international attention and exchange through forward-looking content. With unconventional showrooms, pop-ups and parties, local brands, and collectives, and also large companies use the creative appeal of Fashion Week to attract fashion enthusiasts beyond the business side to the city. Once again, these are united through the B2C initiative STUDIO2RETAIL.

Last season Berlin‘s distinctive historical and modern event locations left a remarkable impression. Thanks to Showcase formats like NEWEST supported by Senate Department for Economy, Energy, and Businesses the concept continues in February and locations like the former Pressecafé at Alexanderplatz turns fashion and scenery equally into highlights.

Berlin Fashion Week: Space for tolerance and freedom

At the very core of its own concept, Berlin Fashion Week functions as a platform for designers to not only show their creative work but their individual convictions. A guiding principle is openness for ALL – regardless of background, believes or points of view. The values at the heart of this are freedom, tolerance, and a firm NO to any form of discrimination. Therefore, Berlin Fashion Week not only focuses on aesthetic innovation, but also on an inclusive space that celebrates and actively promotes diversity.
