Der Berliner Salon: new location, bigger platform
As part of Berlin Fashion Week, DER BERLINER SALON is taking place between September 5th-7th at Kulturforum. The new Mitte West, not far from Potsdamer Straße, allows more space for additional presentation formats. Utilising this additional space, DER BERLINER SALON expands its long-term support of fashion and design brands focusing on sustainability and quality consciousness.
Since 2015, the heart of DER BERLINER SALIN has been the group exhibition of local and national designers and manufactures. This time, designs of 30 participants will be presented. In addition, an ‘alumni’ installation will be shown for the first time. It consists of works creations by thirty designers and manufactures who participated in DER BERLINER SALON in the past. Furthermore, this season, DER BERLINER SALON welcomes a guest designer: Jean Gritsfeldt from Ukraine. After his debut in March 2022 with his collection at MBFW, he receives a stage for a presentation of selected looks.
“I am very much looking forward to our first cooperation with the ‘Lipperheide Costume Library – Fashion Image Collection’ and I am convinced to ring in the next chapter for DER BERLINER SALON within the new museum event venue.” Marcus Kurz, Initiator DER BERLINER SALON and Managing Director Nowadays.
“DER BERLINER SALON is a stage for German designers who act contemporary and forward-thinking. Based on the fact that this platform is now expanding only shows how much great design originates within our country.” Christiane Arp, Initiator DER BERLINER SALON and Chairwoman of the Fashion Council Germany.
“We have supported DER BERLINER SALON since its early days to provide designers in Berlin with a unique platform. This year, the salon offers additional space at Kulturforum to present ideas and designs from Berlin. A truly excellent site where art and fashion merge.” Stephan Schwarz, Senator, Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises.
