Rebirth and Identity – Day 3 of BFW
Kasia Kucharska
Sunday kicked off with Kasia Kucharska, the first winner of the FCG/VOGUE Fashion Fund, who has made a name for herself with her striking creations made from cast latex. As part of her debut collection at Berlin Fashion Week, she explored innovative craftsmanship techniques. Alongside blouses and shorts with dynamic ruching, she presented dresses crafted from deconstructed sweaters, cardigans, and transparent mesh-entirely without seams, held together by functional latex ornaments.
Rebekka Ruétz
Rebekka Ruétz presented her AW25 collection "reBIRTH - The Transformation of a New Era" at Alte Münze, focusing on transformation and renewal. The designs combined sharp cuts with flowing silhouettes, while cut-outs with gold and silver piping and oversized cocoon shapes created striking accents. Sustainable materials, such as the finest organic cotton and organic denim, take center stage in the collection.
Melisa Minca
With her collection "(R)EVOLUTION IRRESISTIBLE", Melisa Minca merges fashion and activism, inspired by Adrienne Maree Brown's Pleasure Activism. She explores joy as a radical act and invites us to rethink activism as a creative, emotionally fulfilling space. Sustainable materials take center stage: discarded garments and fabric remnants are transformed into intricately designed, unique one-of-a-kind looks. The collection blends vintage silhouettes with modern deconstruction, highlighting the transformative power of fashion.
Avenir
On Sunday afternoon, Avenir presented its "Galleria" collection, designed by Sophie Claussen, in the elegant setting of the boutique hotel Château Royal in Berlin-Mitte. Fine tailoring, artistic craftsmanship, and sustainable innovations transformed used garments into valuable one-of-a-kind pieces and wearable outerwear. A standout feature was the "melange effect": wool and linen fused together, creating soft blue gradients through special knitting techniques, while shades of grey and peach added a warm depth. The collection proved that fashion is more than just clothing - it is a living, ever-evolving expression of creativity, culture, and history.
Clara Colette Miramon
Clara Colette Miramon presented her "Maria hat geholfen" collection at St. Thomas' Church in Kreuzberg. She skillfully contrasted the sacred atmosphere with bright lights and energetic music as she brought her vision of a modern goth mother to the catwalk. With down jackets, feminine corsets and elaborately draped jeans, she created a collection in a black and purple color palette. A satin dress with a silver-colored breastplate symbolises the strength and gentleness of a mother, qualities that are reflected in all the designs. In this case, these traits do not represent a contrast but rather form a harmonious whole.
PLNGNS
The Ukrainian label PLNGNS launched the "Identity Season" collection, putting sustainable innovation and upcycling front and center. Everyday items like sneakers are transformed into unique vests and jackets, redefining functional and unisex looks. The collection ranged from bold puffer jackets to standout nylon pants, each defined by its cutting-edge design.
“B-STORIES” Pop-Up Store
Natascha von Hirschhausen realized the pop-up store "B-STORIES" together with PB0110, Société Angelique, Dawn Denim and Alina Schürfeld. She was also one of five brands that received 5,000 euros each from eBay Circularity Support and created two looks from pre-loved items, which will be available exclusively on the online marketplace eBay from 4 February.
