Highlights DAY #1: Der Berliner Salon, Susumu AI and Danny Reinke
Berlin Fashion Week started on September 5th with new formats and locations.
Der Berliner Salon kicked off the week with a group presentation by 30 designers and manufactures and 24 alumni juxtaposed with the artistic treasures of the Kulturforum’s Museum of Decorative Arts. Besides established German fashion houses like Horror Vacui, Odeeh and René Storck the Salon also presented new labels like Atelier Balagans, Alexandra Biron von Curland and The Twins by Tutia Schaad and Michael Sontag, as well as graduates of the renowned Berlin University of the Arts.
With the relaunch of the multidisciplinary format Estethica, Berlin Fashion Week further pushed its sustainability focus while 202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit again raises relevant questions about the transformation of the fashion industry at their three days conference. With shows by Danny Reinke at Kühlhaus, Susumu Ai with a powerful Taiko drum performance at Samurai Museum Berlin and Marcel Ostertag at e-Werk, Berlin Fashion Week already presented high-carat collections on its first day.
The Creators Night at the new location at Hotel Telegraphenamt launched Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin with an installation of Acte TM’s capsule collection and an opening note and performance by musician will.i.am. The official opening and Fireside Chat by Fashion Council Germany closed the first day of Berlin Fashion Week with an upbeat mood.
