Berlin goes live
A fashion week lives from presenting fashion - more than 40 designers and labels show their collections for spring / summer 2022. At the same time, various event formats invite you to panels and forums on the topics of sustainability and the circular economy from September 6 to 12, 2021

It starts again: after the purely digital Berlin Fashion Week in January 2021, we can now look forward to flashing lights, red carpets and top-class guests. With a few exceptions, the events all take place live or hybrid, of course in compliance with all applicable hygiene measures.
As part of the MBFW - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, around ten renowned designers, including Kilian Kerner, Rebekka Ruétz, Danny Reinke and Fassbender, as well as promising new labels will present their spring / summer collections from Monday, September 6th to Wednesday, September 8th. Mercedes-Benz traditionally opens the show calendar with a show as part of the “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talents” youth development program. In cooperation with MBFW Berlin, the FASHION OPEN STUDIO initiative introduces up-and-coming designers, established pioneers and key players in the sustainable fashion scene and shows the makers and processes behind their collections. The program, which was developed together with Fashion Revolution Germany, also includes an exclusive mentoring offer and provides a platform for the presentation of the collections at MBFW Berlin. DER BERLINER SALON has been established for many years. The initiators Christiane Arp, President of the Fashion Council Germany, and Marcus Kurz, Managing Director Nowadays, offer 35 young design talents a stage to show their collections in the form of a curated group exhibition to a specialist audience and thus give them access to buyers and press. With the motto “Committed to Responsibility”, DER BERLINER SALON underlines its claim of contemporary sustainability. DER BERLINER SALON will also take place at Kraftwerk Berlin on September 6th. The Berlin Fashion Network STUDIO2RETAIL provides a special highlight, not just for trade visitors, but for all those interested in fashion. The Fashion Council Germany supports special sales promotions in a number of shops and studios from September 7th to 11th, enables the presentation of exclusive products and organizes events. The focus is on brands that offer particularly sustainable formats and shop concepts, that are characterized by a certain uniqueness and / or that go new ways of recycling. Another highlight is Neo.Fashion.. With a record number of 13 participating universities this year, this format for promoting young talent is the largest and most important platform for young fashion designers. At a total of eight graduate shows on Monday and Tuesday, the fashion graduates present their collections to a wide audience in the Alte Münze. In addition to a symposium, the Association of the German Textile and Fashion Industry is also organizing the job speed dating campaign “Nadel sucht Faden” in association with Neo.Fashion., in which the young talents can contact industry representatives. As a highlight, the Best Graduates Show will be presented to a top-class specialist audience on Wednesday at the Kraftwerk Berlin as part of the MBFW, before this year's Neo.Fashion. Award is given. From September 9th to 12th, the POSITIONS art fair will take place in Tempelhof Airport, Hangar 5 & 6, within the framework of which the FASHION POSITIONS event format offers selected independent Berlin designers a platform at the interface between art and fashion, to present the aesthetic signature of their labels in context and in exchange with art in order to show the value of sustainable fashion in the age of "fast fashion". The ABOUT YOU Fashion Week will take place from September 11th to 15th at the Kraftwerk Berlin. The AYFW will kick off on September 11th with the ABOUT YOU Opening Show, which will be designed and carried out by Villa Eugénie, one of the world's leading fashion show agencies. A total of 12 brand shows will take place over the following four days, including Leni Klum x About You, LeGer, Hoermanseder and A lot less by Lena Meyer Landrut. In addition to the shows, there will be a press talk, a concept store and a TikTok set. For the first time, the AYFW will also welcome international guests, VIPs and influencers. For the second time, the 202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit invites you to a virtual conference for an international specialist audience and interested parties. From September 7th to 10th, sustainability, digitization and innovation in the fashion industry will be discussed, experiences exchanged and best practices demonstrated. Well-known representatives of the fashion and sustainability industry such as Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart (EPEA), Amber Slooten (The Fabricant), Orsola de Castro (Fashion Revolution) as well as representatives from Sympatex, Armedangels and Circular.Fashion discuss ways and possibilities for sustainable supply chains, sophisticated designs and many other topics related to responsible fashion. The A-GAIN GUIDE will also celebrate its premiere as part of the 202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit. The name is program! By using your supposedly old fashion parts "again", the former favorite piece may become "a gain" again. The A-Gain Guide is a digital platform that starts for Berlin Fashion Week in September. The guide shows stores and manufacturers in the immediate vicinity of users who make it possible to significantly extend the life cycle of garments, be it through a repair or a redesign. There are already more than 150 tailors, shoemakers and other suppliers in this fast-growing network. From September 6th to 12th, 2021, Highsnobiety will present the second edition of the digital-first experience project BERLIN, BERLIN, to make contemporary fashion and culture in Berlin accessible to a broader public. The selected contributions are creatively presented using film, photo, augmented reality, product, event and tender formats. The REFERENCE FESTIVAL once again creates a further connection between the creative scene in Berlin. The platform for creativity as a whole follows an interdisciplinary approach that combines fashion with art, music, film and culture and offers space for previously unrealized projects for which the usual formats offer no framework. In September, numerous events for networking and personal exchange will finally take place again around the formats of Berlin Fashion Week. The Berlin Fashion Network STUDIO2RETAIL opens its series of events on September 6th with an exclusive reception in the Alhambra on Kurfürstendamm. The Fashion Council Germany invites you to its legendary FCG Firesidechat on September 8th. Also the best graduate award from Neo.Fashion. as part of the MBFW Berlin on September 8th promises top-class guests and a thunderstorm of flashlights. In addition to the MBFW shows, other well-known designers will present their new designs for spring/summer 2022 off-site, such as Marcel Ostertag (on September 8th). Another networking opportunity for trendsetters and media professionals is the mates date event on September 7th - a networking platform especially for influencers and a wide variety of brands.
