The winners of the fifth Berlin Contemporary competition have been announced.
For the fifth time, the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affiars, Energy and Public Enterprises and the Fashion Council Germany are awarding prizes for show and presentation concepts in the 'Berlin Contemporary' category and for B2C events in the 'STUDIO2RETAIL' category. For the first time, African fashion labels were invited to apply for the Berlin Contemporary category. From a total of 91 submissions, 19 concepts, including one Ukrainian and one African fashion label, were awarded €25,000. The winners will now show their collections at the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week from 31 January to 3 February 2025. In the 'STUDIO2RETAIL' category, six B2C event concepts were selected to receive €5,000 each. The sixth prize is sponsored by Berliner Sparkasse.
The Berlin Contemporary winners are:
Andrej Gronau, AVENIR, Clara Colette Miramon, COLRS, GmbH, Haderlump, HORROR VACUI, Laura Gerte, Lueder, Lou de Betoly, Marke, Odeeh, Palmwine Icecream (Ghana), PLNGNS (Ukrainian), Richert Beil, SF1OG, Sia Arnika, SVEASON, William Fan.
The Studio2Retail winners are:
Balletshofer, Buki Akomolafe & EMEKA Suits, H6, Kitschy Couture, MAHORDE & Ottolinger.
The concepts in both categories were judged and selected by an international jury. The judging criteria included design performance, marketability, media impact and innovation of the brand and concept.
